Before you reveal your fabulousness at the pool or beach this summer get your skin glowing with dry brushing.  Our skin is our largest organ.  And, our bodies eliminate accumulated toxins through our skin.  So, it is super important to keep the pathway clear.

Dry Brushing Helps Detox the Body

Dry Brushing helps detox your body.

You can use a natural bristle body brush, a loohfah or exfoliating gloves.  You can get these at Whole Foods or any health food store.
How to brush: Start outwards at your feet and hands and work your way towards the center of your body.  So for example, begin with the soles of your feet and brush your way towards your hips using circular and long strokes - eventually moving towards your heart or your navel. The idea is that you are moving stagnation from the distal aspect of your body, like your hands and feet, and you are systematically helping it flow to the major highway of vessels and lymphatic's that are located near your arm pits, pelvis and trunk to encourage flow and detoxification.  Use sweeping motions starting the stroke away from the heart and ending with it closer to the heart. Throw in some circular motions too.  Don't think too much about it just do it!  You will love the results of a consistent dry brushing routine.

The best time to brush is before a shower or bath in the morning, once a day.  Be gentle especially at the beginning until your skin gets used to it.  TRUST me friends, when I brush on a regular basis I see a big difference in my skins texture.  It is smooth, toned and radiant.

Now that summer is here and you are showing more skin... Let it glow! Dry brushing is a great way to shed off BLAH winter skin, it increases circulation which supports our efforts to cleanse and detox, it also preps your skin to absorb skin products better like sunscreen and other moisturizers.

Good Clean Body Oil Spray
Adapted from the book Do It Gorgeously by Sophie Uliano

This makes approx 8oz of oil.  Store in 8oz dark plastic spray bottle.  It will last 6 months in a cool dry place.
Ingredients:
40z sweet almond oil
4oz olive oil
10 drops of lavender essential oil
5 drops of geranium essential oil (optional)

1. Pour the almond and olive oil directly into bottle (can use a funnel)
2. Add essential oils
3. Screw on the top and enjoy. Your skin will thank you!
